Yoga

Yoga has become one of the most popular ways for attaining and maintaining fitness, and we can’t recommend it strongly enough as a foundational practice for wellbeing. Just a few of the benefits of yoga include increased strength and flexibility, better body alignment and balance, and improved sleep. Many people also report experiencing less stress, becoming able to handle life events in a more grounded, centered manner.

Yoga can be incorporated into any lifestyle or schedule, and you don’t have to be fit, flexible, and 20-something wearing trendy yoga clothes. You can start right where you are, barefoot in your shorts and T-shirt, regardless of age or level of fitness, and no experience is necessary.

At Odyssey Center our focus is Hatha yoga, the practice of coordinating yoga postures, or asanas, and the fluctuations of the mind to the rhythm of our breath.

Yoga has a time-honored emphasis on the student-teacher relationship in which the teacher helps the student develop a practice that brings deeper understanding of ourselves through personal experience. Odyssey Center’s teachers are distinguished by their commitment to their own personal transformation, ever learning and evolving as they have guided many students in the development of their practices. They bring seasoned experience and wisdom about working with students of all ages, levels of experience, and capability. To learn more about them, go to Instructors/Practitioners page.

We invite you to join a class to begin your exploration of yoga or to continue and deepen your existing practice. Learn more about the classes offered on the About page.
